I realize this is an old thread, but I had same issue and was not showing up in device manager either. I resolved by going to regedit then 'HKLM System. Hard drives wont reactivate. Work 2 are SATA and one is IDE they show in Bios, Device manager and computer management. That you also had the optical device. ![]() I have problem with IDE optical drive in Windows 7. When I try too install the OS from IDE DVD-ROM, the installation will ask me the driver, if I change to SATA one, I can finish the installation of OS, but, when I open computer folder, my IDE DVD wasn't there. I did try with disk manager, still not there. I am using EVGA X58 SLI motherboard, Intel VT been enabled in BIOS for XP mode. But from POST, my IDE DVD-ROM can be detected by MB. How can I fix this error? I already ask EVGA forum, someone give me some advice, but didn't work. Hi TXZhao, Welcome to Microsoft Windows 7 Answers Forum! May I know what is the error message you are getting? This behaviour might happen due to the following: A required CD/DVD driver device driver is missing. Your CD/DVD drive is incompatible with Microsoft's AHCI driver (msahci.sys). To workaround this issue, disable AHCI mode for your disk controller in the system BIOS. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
